In 1967 Anglo Confectionery packed Captain Scarlet cards in with its bubble gum. Lay all 66 picture side down and they fit together into this poster.

Fifteen packets of gum and two shillings (10p today) got you the poster. It measures 53 × 70 cm, the same as all 66 cards laid out together.

Captain Scarlet is indestructible. You are not. Remember this and do not try to imitate him.

The story

The Captain Scarlet bubble gum cards were sold in 1967 by Anglo Confectionery. Each packet had a small pink square of bubble gum and about four cards. There were 66 different cards to collect.

If you collected all 66, you could put them together like a jigsaw to make a picture of the characters and vehicles from the show. The other side of each card had a picture from the series or from the title credits.

If you saved enough wrappers, you could send off for a 53 × 70 cm poster of the finished jigsaw. My brother and I got one each.

Look out for the classic end-title scenes on cards 23 and 40.

How the pieces fit

Each card is about 89 × 64 mm. Six across and eleven down comes to 53 × 70 cm, the size of the poster. Card 1 is the top left piece and the numbers run left to right, a row at a time, so card 66 sits bottom right.
